Your hub for professional one-on-one bass, guitar and ukulele lessons!
Hi, my name is Ian. In the tabs above you'll find an in-depth resume describing my past in the world of music and teaching. My rates can be found there as well. I keep them flat and fair compared to industry standards for all subjects. But to the main point, I've been teaching guitar, bass and ukulele since 2001 in music stores, schools, people's homes and now in the future, virtually since 2018. I start everyone with a free lesson and I put zero pressure on anyone to continue from there. And that's after we talk, and I make sure you have everything you need completely set up and ready. So try one- it's on me!
Sometimes people ask me about my teaching process. And here's generally what I say: First step, we set up a free lesson. In that lesson I plan to get to know you a bit and try to find out some of your musical goals. If you don't know what those are, we'll try to figure it out together. From there, I'll either get you started on some basics or take a step in the right direction from wherever you already stand. Also, age and level is of no consequence. But if you're under 5 years old, just make sure there's a guardian present in the lessons to help you.
If you decide to continue after the first free lesson, my general process is as follows, In general, I like to split lessons into 3 overall categories: theory, technique, and application of both to songs of your choosing. As we go, we build those aspects up as they all tie in with each other. And in the meantime, I'll be there to continuously answer questions and even change the path if we both think it's a good choice to do so. Maybe you have specific goals like a particular song or technique or theory concept to work on. If so, I'm always happy to gear lessons towards any specific goals as well.
Let's talk!
I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have and/or get you set up in my schedule right away with your first free lesson.
Call/text/email any time. If I don't answer immediately, expect a response within a day.
